I find myself disturbed at the scope of my plan. To gather together the strange and powerful in one place. To shape the world with our very presence. Some of those I've invited have dark reputations, indeed; how will they respond to their new compatriots? Will they even reply to my summons? I may very well end up sipping brandy alone for the evening.
But that I doubt very much.
No, they will come. The real question is...what will they do when they get here? I find myself filled with an unaccustomed trepidation.
– from the private journal of Wolfgang von Hammer, February 16th, 1887
About the Campaign: The characters in the Berlin Club are Victorian-era heroes, anti-heroes, and villains. There is no black and white morality, here — all are welcome based on their power, experience and reputation. Even the most vile of Victorian ubers was often restrained by basic civility.
The campaign is expected to feel like the adventures of various Victorian heroes, encountering weird new science, ancient mysticism, and exploring dark and forbidden parts of the world. To save innocents? Perhaps. To gather might and knowledge? Definitely. To shepherd in a new century to their liking? Absolutely.
When considering your character for the Berlin Club, there are a few things to take into account:
- You don't need to be a good guy, though you are certainly welcome to be.
- Take your inspiration from the notables of the genre and the age — Dr. Jekyll, Sherlock Holmes, Allan Quatermain, Billy the Kid, Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, Thomas Edison, Fu Manchu, etc. The list goes on.
- Don't just think in terms of raw power — characters will often have extensive wealth, skills and contacts. Characters who powerful loners may find themselves in trouble when their erstwhile allies sick a legion of fanatical followers on them, or simply have them arrested by their loyal cohorts among the local gendarme.
Humans and Ubers: Finally, there are two types of characters for the game: humans and ubers. Characters who are human must take Normal Characteristic Maxima, and must have at least twice as many points in Skills, Perqs, and Talents as they have in Powers. Humans are built on 250 points and up to 150 points in Disadvantages. Ubers are built on 200 points, and up to 150 points in Disadvantages.
Submission Format: Characters are accepted in plain text, HTML, Word or (preferably) Hero Designer format.
