During a high risk mission to rescue American tourists from Muslim extremists, Bienvenido Batungbacal was hit by enemy fire, and while the rest of the Anti-Terrorist squad pushed on towards the hostages, Bienvenido was left to take care of himself.  At first he was annoyed, and a little frightened at the prospect of dying, but then he decided it was up to him whether he lived or died.  He pulled himself up and staggered along the jungle until he came across a small stream.  He half-fell into the water and drank his fill, soon realising that a green glow was emanating from beneath the surface of the water.  He reached down and touched the gem stone, and as soon as his skin touched the stone, it shot forward and embedded itself in his chest, covering the wound that he had suffered at the hands of the extremists.

Pain spread throughout his body as the gemstone attuned itself to his body, but sooner than he would have thought possible, Bienvenido felt completely refreshed.  He was able to walk again, and more.  A new kind of strength coursed through his body and he discovered that he could create a force field.

Bienvenido again turned to revenge.  His so-called team mates had abandoned him.  And he had no doubt they would soon cause disaster with the hostages.  Most hostage retrieval missions ended in bloodshed, which was why most people paid the ransoms.  But the Americans refused.  He realised that he could make a difference.  And he found that he could fly, and quickly closed the distance between himself and the hostages.

When he burst in on the scene, his worst fears were realised.  There was gunfire, bodies lay strewn across the small field, and there was a fire in one of the hastily erected huts.  A green energy field hummed into life around Bienvenido's body and bullets ricocheted off his chest.  After a combination of intimidation and powerful blasts of energy, he routed the terrorists and rescued what remained of his team and the hostages.

The government were very grateful.  They immediately gave him a promotion and groomed him to be a national hero.  Without really knowing what else to do, Bienvenido agreed.  Tests were run on his new physiology and it was discovered that he had a nearly inexhaustible reservoir of energy and stamina.  He was dubbed Aliguyon, after the legendary hero who possessed similar endurance and who fought one of his adversaries for three days without tiring.

After working with the government for three years, Aliguyon was approached by the Vatican and offered a position with Sanctity.  He was weary of the political manoeuvrings of his government and readily agreed, preferring the duties of Sanctity which emphasised rescue and the eradication of poverty and disease over fist-to-fist battles with supervillains.  He remained in the Philippines with Sanctity for the first year before moving to Italy where he is currently stationed.

When not in costume, Bienvenido enjoys his life in Italy (although there are still issues of corruption).  He has begun a relationship with his team mate, la Bateria, and the two heroes have begun to talk of marriage.  They are currently stationed on different continents but manage to find time to spend together, mostly in Italy when la Bateria reports to the Vatican.

The gemstone which imbedded itself in Aliguyon's chest is of alien origin, although S.A.G.E. has not been able to identify it.  Whatever its origin, the gemstone has granted Aliguyon almost limitless energy, enhanced strength and durability, as well as the ability to generate fields of force which he can manipulate in ways which enable him to produce shields, fly and create concussive beams of force.  In addition to his powers, Aliguyon also wears an armoured costume and mask including infrared vision.

Aliguyon wears a dark scarlet costume crossed with white.  His face is completely covered including a rose-tinted visor.  The green gemstone is obvious in the middle of his chest and glows softly.  The gemstone cannot be safely removed without causing severe damage, and possible death, to Aliguyon.  In his civilian identity, Bienvenido keeps the gem hidden under cotton shirts and blazers.

Naturally dark haired, Bienvenido has bleached his hair blonde.  He also has a tattoo of a crucifix on his back from his military days.
