| Background |
Ramadan is the name that they tell him is his, but he can never be sure. Memories are like moving points of light; here and then gone again. He can never be sure. His handler the man the Directorate agents call 'Q' is his handler, and creator. So is this man his father? He can never be sure. Q tells him that once he was soldier, a brave man in the Saudi Arabian army. However, he was brought down not by an enemy of the state, nor a bomb, but by his own body. He was dying, so they told him. Cancer. The Directorate was looking for volunteers for an experiment by Q. He doesn't know how many people accepted the sacrifice, nor how many died in the attempt to create a super-hero for Saudi Arabia. Q doesn't like to talk about it. He was going to die anyways, he felt that this would be a good way serve his nation one last time. He survived, but is slowly forgetting his past. Maybe that is for the best.He was nervous when the laid him down in the photonic chamber, but he didn't notice much. The cancer ate at him like a ghoul and all he knew was pain. Q explained the procedure to him, but he couldn't understand or remember half of it. There was a blinding flash. Then came the pain. He thought the pain from the cancer was unbearable, but this pain made that pain seem infinitesimal. On that day he died, only to be reborn. They told him his name was Ramadan al-Nil. He could never be sure. He was no longer human, but something more. He was light, he was color. He was reborn. Q would stay with him. Q would be his link to humanity. Al-Nil would serve his country in the best way he could. This time he would be a super-hero. |
| Personality |
Since his transformation into a being of light, Ramadan is slowly loosing his grip on humanity. He has extreme difficulty expressing emotions or even feeling them. In a way he seems to be detached from himself, as if he were looking in on what is going on around him. He makes no friends or enemies for that matter. He does what he is asked to do, and nothing else. Some foes have thought that he is some kind of automaton, without really understanding what he has become. The only thing that seems to link Ramadan with the world is his sense of duty. He volunteered for this duty and nothing will prevent him from being the best super-hero for Saudi Arabia. Ramadan will not betray or allow any harm to come to his country, even if this means his own destruction.Ramadan is slowing forgetting his past. If it wasn't for Q, he would probably have forgotten it all by now. At times Ramadan regrets the transformation, but this emotion is getting harder for him to recognize or feel. |
| Quote |
"On Ramadan I died. On Ramadan I was reborn." |
| Powers |
Ramadan has been transformed into a creature composed completely of photons. As such he is effected little by anything that doesn't effect light. He never get hot nor cold, and doesn't even breathe. Diseases such as cancer do not have a hold on him anymore. Ramadan can survive the deepest depths of the oceans and even the vacuum of space. Being composed of light, Al-Nil can naturally fly. He's probably one of the fastest fliers on Earth about to travel across millions of miles in a blink of an eye. He has incredible vision which allows him to see things thousands of miles away from him as well. Al-Nil can also travel out into space and jump faster than the speed of light. Other abilities that he has gained from the transformation is the ability to form a force field around himself that most attacks cannot get through. With a mere thought, Al-Nil can become completely immaterial, all attacks except those that are light-based or darkness-based have any chance of harming him.Al-Nil can project light out of his body, which is naturally replenished by natural light. He can vary the intensity of the light from a simple blinding light to a lethal laser blast. While not a killer, Al-Nil usually reserves his laser blast for foes that aren't affected by his other attacks. |
| Appearance |
Since his transformation, Al-Nil has shed almost all of his mass. He still appears to be a man of average height, but that is where his similarities to any other human end. Al-Nil is completely hairless, and finds no use to wear clothes. His skin, for the lack of a better term, constantly glows an indigo, which grows brighter when he activates his force field. His eyes are a darker shade of indigo. Another thing that sets Al-Nil from other humans is the indigo crescent and star on his forehead. Al-Nil has no life outside of being Al-Nil. His transformation makes it impossible for him to maintain a normal life, even if he wanted to. On occasions, Al-Nil will wear clothes but he usually finds no use for them. |
