Welcome to the Alliance of Superheroes!

The Alliance of Superheroes, historically speaking, was formed shortly after World War II hit. When many of the European heroes went to war to fight off the Nazi menace, they left their less experienced and sometimes under prepared sidekicks and secondaries behind to protect their home countries. Unable to defend their homelands on their own, these second-tier heroes formed a support group called the Alliance of Superheroes: fundamentally, their call was to give either other hands when they could, share information, and work in a unified manner without going as far as being a formal superteam.

It worked, and for a good thirty years, the Alliance of Superheroes prospered. It went from a group of sidekicks and vagabonds to a team that called on many of the world’s best and brightest heroes. The ideas of the Alliance spread and grew over the years, as it’s membership swelled into the dozens, then the near hundreds as more and more nations put their heroes under the Alliance Flag.

In the late 80’s, the team’s membership started to suffer. Many of them left for corporate gigs that paid. Others, who’d grown strong enough in the Alliance, went solo. Still others were disenchanted by the kind of personal attention that smaller superteams offered, and went off to these groups. Still others felt that a non-sanctioned superhero team that operated unilaterally in the nations of the world was just asking for trouble. Point being, by the end of the 80’s, the membership had dwindled so small that the Alliance just faded into the background.

Present day: a group of heroes come together to fight a common villain. They do. In doing so, one of them remembers the old Alliance, what it meant, and how it came to be. They put that name to their group. And, from the ashes, the Alliance of Superheroes is reborn!
