| History of the Aquonians | |
| Aquonians are schools of fish that evolved hive mind sentience initially as a means of communication internally among the members. In the early stages of pre-history, there was strong competition for the best feeding and spawning grounds. Frequently schools would attempt to strengthen themselves by abducting fish from other schools and tuning the individual fish into the mind of the school.Eventually, some schools found that they could become highly effective if they worked as collectives of several schools to dominate an area. At first, this led to rapid expansion of the domains of collectives that had able leaders and energetic schools. But once the domain borders stabilized, some collectives became fraught with internal politics while others adopted social standards. At the same time, population pressure drove collectives to expand domains into less desirable areas of the world. This, in turn, led to development of technology.Some collectives chose to use advantages in technology to develop weapons and provoked incidents with other collectives. A series of wars, first local, then regional, and finally global, eventually led to vast amounts of devastation and pollution. These inadvertent social selective pressures resulted in the dwindling of politically degenerate collectives and a federation of the more harmonious collectives.Over the past millenium, the federation has encompassed the entire world and five cities, spaced roughly equidistant around the globe have emerged. The cities serve as centers for science and politics, both to steadily improve the lifestyle of Aquonians. Each school now sends a pair of fish to the nearest city to take part in these endeavors.The individual fish within the school have lifespans of roughly a few weeks to a few years depending on how harsh the conditions are, but generally, births equal deaths. It is possible for the individual fish to go into a spawning mode which could double the population every month to two years depending on the richness of the waters and the safety from predators. However, a school can do little else when in a spawning mode. | |

| Aquon 4 is the fourth planet of a yellow sun star system in Quadrant Beta of the Union of Civilized Worlds. Except for several archipelagos and polar ice caps, the world is predominantly ocean of varying depths. The atmosphere is fairly typical of planets supporting organic life with a large proportion of nitrogen and lesser amounts of oxygen, water vapor, and carbon dioxide. The population is dispersed throughout the oceans with much of the area undeveloped except for roughly a thousand towns and five cities. Star City, the Aquonians window to space is built on the shores and in the lagoon of the largest temperate zone island of the world. | |

| The Aquonians desire to carry about their own business and to be generally left alone. They are strong believers in the general principals of the Union. | |
| Reputation | |
| Aquonians have developed socially to a high degree of harmony. They tend not to interact much with other races of the Union except at Caucus Star Center. This is primarily due to their difficulty in understanding non-hive type races and their self-sustaining planetary economy. Those schools that are even the slightest degree aggressive participate in the UCW Defense Force and contribute three types of novel starships to the fleet, each of which operate very well with standard UCW Defence Force craft. The Aquonian military forces are known for their consistency in firing warning shots before firing any offensive weaponry that target starships that have sentients aboard. | |
