Growing up Natasha never knew whom her real parents were. She was born in Stalingrad not long after the Germans invaded the Motherland. Natasha would've been among the thousands who died during the siege, if it wasn't for her adopted mother, Baba Yaga. The ogress had come upon the infant while searching for a quick bite to eat. Her mother was always saying that a battlefield was a good place to pick up a tasty morsel or two. Baba Yaga being a monster, such a statement wasn't unusual. Natasha might have entered up on the menu too, if Baba Yaga's other adopted child hadn't abandoned her. Over the years Natasha was to hear countless tales about Yurodvi. As Natasha grew older the ancient witch taught her magic, like she had taught Yurodvi, and possibly countless others over the centuries. Baba Yaga was probably the most powerful witch in all of Russia. Natasha always strived to excel at her studies, always striving for more and more skill. Her goal was to eclipse Yurodvi. When Natasha was eighteen she was finally allowed to leave the Dancing Hut, and see a bit of the world. The world fascinated Natasha. Using her magic she moved through the world unseen. Natasha visited many places that were unknown to the modern world. In one nameless village she even glimpsed a statue of stone that could move on its own. When she realized that the statue could see her, she fled. Again in the vastness of the Russian tundra she encountered an avatar of Ivan Kupala. After a brief conversation about magic, Natasha returned to Moscow. Things were really changing in the capital, politically and socially. The Russian premier was denouncing the excesses of Stalin. He was also calling for the creation of an Uber group to showcase how great the Soviet Union was. This group was to be known as Oktober, after the October uprising that led to the establishment of the Soviet Union. Natasha was intrigued by such an idea, and felt it was time for the world to know of her existence. She approached the Russian premier and after a quick demonstration of her power, he gave her control of Oktober, and placed as her assistant an Uber known as Apparatchik. The days with Oktober were some of the best for Natasha, or as she was better known Baba Natasha. Ubers came and went from Oktober, but always she was the one making most of the decisions. Natasha relied upon Apparatchik a lot in those days, and if the little bureaucrat abused his position, Natasha turned a blind eye to his actions. It was all for the greater good of the Soviet Union. As in all things, absolute power breeds absolute corruption, and even though Baba Natasha tried to hold things together, things in the Soviet Union were unraveling. Using her magic, and Apparatchiks mental powers to influence the Politburo, the two had made the mistake of not concentrating upon Gorbachev. For some reason the man proved resistant to their combined might. Baba Natasha was later to think the man might have been an Uber himself, or that he had help, possibly from Yurodvi. Either way, Gorbachev brought about changes to the Soviet Union, and like a domino let loose tumbled down all that she had worked so hard to uphold. The Soviet Union collapsed. The stress of the break down of the country seemed to have pronounced effects on Baba Natasha. She sank into a deep depression that no one could seem to raise her from. It was Apparatchik who committed her to an insane asylum. He was later to lie to Baba Natasha telling her that it was really Gorbachev who had her sent away, because he feared her power. Oktober was broken up, and it's members scattered to the winds. Baba Natasha didn't seem to notice her mood was so black. Baba Natasha would've probably remained in the insane assulym if it wasn't for President Putin creating Russian Dawn. Apparatchik came to visit her one day, and happened to mention that Putin was forming another Uber group, and when he mentioned that Yurodvi was joining the group, it was like a light was flick back on in Baba Natasha. "What did you say?" asked Baba Natasha. "Please Natasha," said Apparatchik trying to calm her, "you mustn't get excited." "Worm!" shouted Baba Natasha, "I shall be the one who tells who is to be exicted or not." "So Putin thinks he can cast me of. And he calls in my foster brother. Well we shall have to teach him, and his so called Federation as well. Where are the others?"Baba Natasha was back. The Russian Federation would learn from its' errors. |
