Abdullah was twelve when he discovered the pearls. He had been diving in Tubli Bay as his family had been doing for generations, tending to their pearl beds, when the rogue current caught him. Abdullah was swept further and further from his father's dhow. Not only was he swept further out into the gulf he was dragged further underwater. That was when he saw the ship. At first Abdullah couldn’t identify the ship; it didn’t look Arabian or even British, but it certainly was ancient. Struggling, Abdullah was able to break free and return to the surface. He was over a kilometre way from the dhow. Later, Abdullah returned to the wreck and discovered an antique chest in the wreckage. Strange writing covered the entire chest and Abdullah couldn’t open it either. It was by the light of the full moon that the chest opened itself. Inside Abdullah found a set of bizarre clothes, a book with strange drawings in it, and a bag of pearls. Abdullah was later to learn that the writing was in Sanskrit. Following the drawings in the book he started to teach himself magic. At first it was all a game to Abdullah, but later he realized that he could make a living as a magician. Putting on the clothes from the chest, and taking his pearls he went to the king's palace to put on a performance. However, Abdullah, who went by his stage name Pearl, wasn’t the only one who was going to visit the king that night. Fatwa decided to pay the king a visit as well. Saladin broke down a wall, and he along with the rest of Fatwa attacked. At first Abdullah wasn’t sure what to do, until Iron Amir who was in the palace in his civilian identity arrived and blasted Saladin back out of the wall. Abdullah used his magic to aid the king and company as well. He caused so much confusion in the ranks of Fatwa that they were forced to flee. Abdullah found that he truly enjoyed fighting Fatwa and decided to start fighting crime as Pearl. When Iron Amir offered him a place in Five Pillars, Abdullah joyfully agreed. |
Pearl is very much the performer. It doesn’t matter whether he’s winning or losing so long as he’s doing it in style. He never does anything easy, it’s always about panache. His behaviour at times annoys others who think that he’s a troublemaker. For Pearl he’s just doing his act in style. |

Pearl is a mystic whose spells are focused through his pearls. With research Pearl can come up with new spells. Pearl keeps a few pearls on hand at all times. Primarily these are pearls for defence (power, mental, and force field). His pearl of flight is a black pearl that grows to the size of a stool, which Pearl rides upon when he flies. In addition to his mystic knowledge, Pearl is also an accomplished stage magician. He uses his skills in stage magic to further confuse people into thinking that he’s really not a mystic but just a stage magician. |
Pearl wears a tuxedo for a costume. The jacket of the tuxedo is red instead of the traditional black. On his head he wears a green turban with a large pearl in the centre of the turban. To hide his identity, Pearl wears a small domino mask. Abdullah is a handsome Bahraini who wear traditional dress when he’s not doing a performance, or fighting crime. |
