| Background |
The newspapers swarmed all over the Broadbent family when it was announced that Johanna Broadbent had given birth to a 'Pig Boy'. It was 1984 and Australia was still relatively untouched by the uberhuman phenomenon. The appearance of Ryan's physical deformity sent shivers of fear and curiosity through the Australian public. The Broadbents spent much of the next ten years trying to avoid the media, and Ryan was hidden away from everyone.
The super hero Tempus arrived at the Broadbent's doorstep in the summer of 1996. He explained that Ryan possessed a unique metabolism which enabled him to process and overcome all known diseases and poisons. And it seemed that Southern Cross International needed the twelve-year old's help. There was a virulent strain of malaria in northern Queensland and Ryan was needed to take medical supplied into the region.
Tempus offered the 'adventure' not because the organisation really needed Ryan's help, but because they wanted to help build his self-esteem in preparation for an eventual admission to the team. Tempus knew that Ryan's metabolism would benefit his research for a vaccine to the retro-virus which devastated his future version of Earth.
Ryan accepted the offer, and the acceptance was a huge step for the young boy. He had been ridiculed his entire life, and he felt that travelling north would be like walking into a lion's den. It turned out that the isolated community in the Cape York Peninsula were relieved to see Ryan and welcomed him like the hero he was.
After returning to Brisbane, Ryan steeled himself to attend high school which he did for a full Term before succumbing to bullying. He continued studying part-time at the school and part-time at home, and when he graduated he was accepted into a medical degree (with a scholarship from Southern Cross International).
Ryan now works for Southern Cross International as the Head of Infectious Disease Task Force of scientists and medics. He is the youngest on the team but he has shown sound leadership so far and the team have been happy to follow his lead. |
| Personality |
Ryan Broadbent has low self-esteem and considers himself a hideous monster, although he can steel his nerves and face the public when needed. He is more comfortable with those he knows, and since he has worked for Southern Cross for most of the last six years, he feels most comfortable within the Southern Cross International headquarters in Sydney.
Although he has pursued a medical career, Ryan also dreams of becoming a super hero. He calls himself Razorback and has opposed Gauntlet on several occasions, although he still lacks the power and experience to take them on by himself. |
| Quote |
| "Stand back! If anyone's going to be exposed to irradiated spider venom it should be me!" |
| Powers |
Razorback possesses uberhuman strength which enables him to press in excess of 12 tons (on a good day!). His most useful ability is his immunity to almost every known terrestrial disease and toxin. He exposes himself to danger regularly in the field as a member of the Infectious Disease Task Force. Razorback wears a standard Southern Cross International body armour which gives him a super hero look as well as protection from conventional injury.

| Appearance |
Ryan Broadbent was known as the 'Pig Boy' after he was born with the head of a boar and the body of a child. As he grew he developed tusks and superhuman strength. Now, as an adult, Ryan has a lean and powerful body and an unusual boar's head. He wears a blue and white costume with the Southern Cross symbol as well as a horned helmet which he has added in deference to his goal of becoming the super hero 'Razorback'.
