A Kenyan doctor with a mysterious past, the man known as Hafiz found his way to Malabo in Equatorial Guinea after working for the Witch Doctor in Azambia, an experience which both haunted and intrigued him. He found himself working against his former employer in a far away country, but such a turn around in his situation was not unexpected. Hafiz was a man who often made enemies. He enjoyed watching others and identifying their flaws - for everyone had flaws.

Inmaculada and Hafiz founded the small anti-government group called Justiciar, although neither one of them considered their actions to be heroic. Inmaculada was determined to wrest control back of her slave trade, and Hafiz simply wanted to find a weakness in the Witch Doctor's plans. What he would do with such a weakness is still uncertain, even to Hafiz.

Hafiz never gives much of himself away. He is a genius and knows it. In fact, the awareness of his own genius seems to give him the justification to do as he pleases. If he believes something is right then it is, end of story. While he and Inmaculada share some inner knowledge of the workings of Justiciar, not even the fiery woman knows much about Hafiz. His involvement in Justiciar seems to be to find information about the Witch Doctor, but depending on the time of day it is unclear whether Hafiz hates or admires the African dictator.

"Don't question me. Imbecile."

Hafiz is intelligent and ruthless. Apart from that, however, he is a regular human.

With a gaunt face, and penetrating eyes Hafiz appears like an interrogator in all situations. He wears dark clothing, including a heavy leather jacket, and enjoys watching people from the shadows from where he can make better judgements of people.
