The Uberworld is a large and complicated setting, covering the seven continents of Earth, the oceans and even places beyond the planet and solar system, through time and alternate dimensions. These pages document the current situation in the various countries of Uberworld, including the incidence of ubers, position in global politics and interesting story hooks.As a general rule, uberhumans occur once for every million people, although others factors may influence that ratio.

Afghanistan (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; Jomhuri-ye Eslami-ye Afghanestan)
| Capital | Kabul | Population | 29,928,000 |
| Language | Persian, Pashtu, Uzbek | GDP per Capita | $800 |
| Known Ubers | Mugahid | ||
| Information | Situated between the Orient, the West, and the Arab world, Afghanistan was once one of the focal points of trade. It is a landlocked country with relatively poor resources and a primarily agricultural economic base. Its history is one of conflict: between the various ethnic groups, between warlords, and between religions. In the 20th century, this nation has gone from rule of a warlord, to rule by invading Soviet communists, to rule by warlords. Recently, the country took a downturn in both civil rights and economically when a group of religious fanatics known as the Taliban took over in 1996. Training grounds for terrorists were scattered throughout the country.
After the Taliban's Al Qaida allies killed thousands of innocent civilians using airplanes to crash into the World Trade Center buildings, the democratic world awakened and took action. Afghanistan was liberated from the yoke of the Taliban. And, since then both civil rights and the economy are doing profoundly better than any time in the recent history of the country. Still, the Taliban and its allies are not completely erradicated. Numerous bands exist in the mountains of the eastern parts of the country. The superhuman known as Mugahid also has been disruptive of attempts to bring back order to Afghanistan and has interfered with economic growth as well. It is not known at this point if there is any degree of coordination between Mugahid and the terrorist forces. Also, the farming population, who had long grown accustomed to growing opium poppies, continues to do so, creating a continuous international law enforcement problem. |

Albania (Republic of Albania; Republika e Shqiperise)
| Capital | Tirana | Population | 3,563,000 |
| Language | Albanian | GDP per Capita | $4,900 |
| Known Ubers | Dove*, Dove II* | ||
| Information | From the end of World War II until the beginning of the 1990s, Albania was an isolated Communist country ruled by a dictator whose power extended from the Fifteen Families. There are many reasons for the fall of the government and the rise of democracies. The economy was in shambles, revolution in the Soviet bloc altered the politics of Europe, and a lone superhero, Dove, fought hard against the Fifteen Families in the 1980s.
What was left for the new democracy was in shambles. Even now, the current government struggles to boost the welfare of its citizens and has one of the poorest economies of Europe. This is largely due to poor infrastructure and a large public debt. Still hope comes in many forms. Despite its statement of protection for ethnic Albanians outside of Albania, the government has been helpful in mediating disputes in Southeastern Europe. Corruption, while still present has steadily diminished. And the economy is growing. Crime in Albania is still a work in progress. Of most international concern is its growing role in trafficking of drugs from Southwest Asia and South America to Western Europe. Ethnic Albanian organizations - including the Dhimgioka crime family that has scattered throughout Europe - have played a large role in the distribution of drugs. |

Algeria (People's Democratic Republic of Algeria; Al Jumhuriyah al Jaza'iriyah ad Dimuqratiyah ash Sha'biyah)
| Capital | Algiers | Population | 35,532,000 |
| Language | Arabic, French | GDP per Capita | $6,600 |
| Known Ubers | Saturne* | ||
| Information | In the 1990s a civil war swept Algeria. The electoral success of Islamic fundamentalists caused many of the elite to become fearful. Large corporations, too, including a French-Algerian company known as Solutions d'Energie de Saturne, also worried that their assets would be nationalized. The army, with the occasional help of the corporate superhero, Saturne, eventually suppressed the insurrection. Currently, the government of Algeria is democratic.
Although Algeria has large petroleum and natural gas reserves, there is little diversity in its economy due largely to bureaucracy. Further, the cash has not been used efficiently to improve general social welfare and infrastructure. Poor living standard and high unemployment continue to make the populace generally dissatisfied. The Islamic militant movement has taken advantage of this. Fatwa, too, has attacked government and corporate targets in Algeria. France, Italy, and the United States are the major trade partners of Algeria. The country has a major border dispute with Morocco as each country accuses the other of arms smuggling and harboring militants. |

|
Andorra (Principality of Andorra; Principat d'Andorra)
| Capital | Andorra la Vella | Population | 70,500 |
| Language | Catalan, French | GDP per Capita | $26,800 |
| Known Ubers | Beezle Bob*, Sorceress*, Strata, Veronica* | ||
| Information | This small country in the Pyrenees with a little over sixty thousand people is nestled in the mountans between Spain and France. Because of its lack of natural resources and its location, it has had relatively few external problems for the past few centuries.
Currently, the economy is heavily dependent on tourism. There are even rumors that the superhero community enjoys vacationing in private lodges in a certain forested vale within the country. A group of teenage uberhumans, Ola Nuevo, has been known to operate in the country. At this time, the people who have seen them are divided in categorizing them as heroes or villains. |

|
Angola (Republic of Angola; Republica de Angola)
| Capital | Luanda | Population | 11,190,000 |
| Language | Portuguese, Bantu | GDP per Capita | $2,100 |
| Known Ubers | Black Rhino* | ||
| Information | With the death of warlord Jonas Savimbi at the hands of the superhuman Black Rhino, the civil war in Angola has been dying out. The rival group, the MPLA, is now firmly in power and many of their enemies have left the country. While the MPLA has announced plans to hold democratic elections, no one is banking on that happening.
While the country itself is rich in natural resources, much of the population lives on subsistence agriculture. Corruption, war-damaged infrastructure, and large areas still having land mines impede efficient tapping of the resources. Oil production is the major industry and the reason for major credit backing from the People's Republic of China. The blood diamond trade is declining and giving way to legitimate mining operations. Cocaine trafficking is also a point of international contention for Angola. |

Antigua and Barbuda (Antigua and Barbuda)
| Capital | Saint John's, Antigua | Population | 68,700 |
| Language | English | GDP per Capita | $11,000 |
| Known Ubers | Sand Dragon* | ||
| Information | This Eastern Caribbean nation consisting of two major islands has a modest economy that is highly dependent on tourism. There are no significant internal problems, but has been criticized for not combating narcotics trafficking and shady offshore banking.
Recent ads placed by the country's Tourism Board in the magazines, Supers and Ubers, and Heroic Times, openly invite overseas 'supers' to come and make their home here. Of interest, the government has forbidden travel to the island of Lagarto due to unexplained disappearances of a few people who have gone there. |

|
Argentina (Argentine Republic; Republica Argentina)
| Capital | Buenos Aires | Population | 39,538,000 |
| Language | Spanish | GDP per Capita | $12,400 |
| Known Ubers | Abel, Cain*,Hit, Run | ||
| Information | Since the end of the Peron dictatorship and the juntas, Argentina has been relatively stable. While the country's economy is marred by inflation, external debt, and budget shortfalls, Argentina enjoys a strong labor force, rich natural resources, a diverse industrial base, and good infrastructure.
Since the Falklands War in 1982, Argentina has had little in the way of outright conflict. Still, it carries border disbutes with Chile in Antarctica, and with the U.K. in both Antarctica and the Falklands. A nexus of criminal activities at the Tri-Border area with Brazil and Paraguay is primarily due to illicit drug and arms smuggling, money laundering, and fundraising for extremist groups. The team of Hit and Run are considered bandits by Argentine law enforcement as well as that of other countries in the Americas. In the barrios of Argentina, they are often charitable and considered Robin Hood-like heroes. A gang of vampires has been terrorizing Buenos Aires nights, their leader is known as Cain. The superhero, Abel, often tries to counter the vampires, but also spends much of his time working as part of the international detective agency, Reddy, Willing, and Abel. |

|
Armenia (Republic of Armenia; Hayastani Hanrapetut'yun)
| Capital | Yerevan | Population | 2,983,000 |
| Language | Armenian | GDP per Capita | $4,600 |
| Known Ubers | Sky Queen | ||
| Information | Armenia is a former Soviet country with poor natural resources. Economically, they are heavily tied to Russia who purchases their net energy production. However, their Metsamor nuclear power plant is under international pressure to be closed. Europe and Israel are the other major economic partners for this poor, land-locked nation.
There is a large degree of tension with neighboring Azerbaijan as well as some tension with Turkey. Over 200,000 ethnic Armenians have fled Azerbaijan, and a large number of ethnic Azerbaijani have fled Armenia. Ethnic Armenians in Georgia, Turkey, and Iran are also minor international problems. Government corruption measures have been introduced, but are slow to be enforced. There is also a low amount of drug trafficking in Armenia that continues to plague law enforcement. Sky Queen is the only known uber to be operating in Armenia. She is generally regarded as an outlaw villain, but because some of her activities, a minority of the populace regard her as a patriot. In fact, Turkey and Azerbaijan both have condemned Armenia for failing to apprehend Sky Queen; this is a sore point in the local foreign relations. Sky Queen has worked with T.I.T.A.N. before as well as Oktyabr and even Russian Dawn. But most of her activities seems to be stealing - especially fashionable women's clothing and accessories. |

Atlantis (Republic of Atlantis; Ripobklik tu Atklantika)
| Capital | Atlantis | Population | 16,750,000 |
| Language | Atlantean | GDP per Capita | $29,000 |
| Known Ubers | Armada, Behemoth, Parts, Starfish | ||
| Information | Atlantis is a
growing and thriving nation. While transportation infrastructure is fairly
easy in an underwater realm, power infrastructure is just as strongly
hampered. In this underwater republic, technologies that are relatively
easy to research in the surface world are more difficult to advance
underwater. Many technologies are copied from the surface world and then
modified for underwater manufacturing.
The majority of surface worlders believe that Atlantis is a fictitious land from legends. Few are those surface worlders that know that it actually exists; fewer still are those that have seen an Atlantean. Thus, there are few reasons for tensions with nearby nations. The major source of tension for Atlantis is Lemuria, with whom they are currently at an uneasy peace. There are three teams of superheroes that operate in Atlantis and an equal number of supervillain teams. Occasionally Atlanteans such as Armada, Behemoth, and Starfish work with surface worlders. |

Australia (Commonwealth of Australia)
| Capital | Canberra | Population | 20,090,000 |
| Language | English | GDP per Capita | $30,700 |
| Known Ubers | (Dingo), (Dumaguete), (Embrace), Enigma*, Eros*, (Esperanca), Grievous, Harm, Hecate*, (Memnon), (Nostrum), (Omen), Outback, Professor Quake, (Razorback, (Southern Cross*), Tempus, Witch Hazel* | ||
| Information | The world's smallest
continent, Australia's population is mostly located on the east coast,
leaving a large proportion of its inner 'Outback' uninhabited.
Australia has been at the forefront of ubergetic research with the
establishment of a Numen-Kami Institute in the
1980s, which then spawned
the Southern Cross International organisation. Australia is closely
aligned with the United States, especially in relation to Foreign Policy,
and the government has tended to shift itself more to the political Right
in recent years. There is no official uberhuman security force,
although the Southern Knights operate in
such a capacity across Australia, New Zealand and Brazil.
The Skellarians, an alien race, have set up a small scout base in Australia, which is not generally known. |

|
Austria (Republic of Austria; Republik Oesterreich)
| Capital | Vienna | Population | 8,184,000 |
| Language | German | GDP per Capita | $31,300 |
| Known Ubers | Blizzard, Double Eagle, Edelweiss II | ||
| Information | A member of the
European Union since 1995, Austria is a prosperous and very stable country
with partial international political neutrality. There are fundamental
economic concerns with its aging population and increased competition
since joining the E.U.
There is little uberhuman activity here except in the abatement of natural disasters such as avalanches, extreme cold, floods, and mudslides. The team of Double Eagle, who announced that he will retire in 2007, and his young mentoree, Edelweiss, seem very capable of handling these crises, even though they are thought of as 'part-time' or 'amateur' superheroes by others such as U-Force and The Brotherhood, with whom they have cooperated twice. Recently, a destructive uber known as Blizzard has appeared causing sporadic damage in Graz, Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. Each time her rampages have been stopped and each time she has disappeared outright for weeks or even months before striking again. |

|
Azambia (Azambia) | ||
| Capital | Azambia City | Population | 731,000 |
| Language | English | GDP per Capita | $2,000 |
| Known Ubers | (Gazelle), Giraffe, (Hippo), (Savage Lion), (Silverback), (Witch Doctor*), (Zebra) | ||
| Information | Azambia is a small
African nation that was once a part of the Democratic Republic of
Congo. The area was seized by the Witch Doctor and an army of robots
and ubers. The local military was unable to resist the superior
firepower of the Witch Doctor, and the Witch Doctor was declared President
For Life.
Before the Witch Doctor came to power, Azambia was dirt poor. The President has brought with him advanced technology and instigated massive industrialisation and educational plans. English has become the official language, replacing French. The borders of Azambia are heavily guarded. To the outside world, Azambia is seen as a prospering nation, while inside the nation it is a place completely ruled by the Witch Doctor and his minions. |

|
Azerbaijan (Republic of Azerbaijan; Azarbaycan Respublikasi)
| Capital | Baku | Population | 7,912,000 |
| Language | Azerbaijani | GDP per Capita | $3,800 |
| Known Ubers | Div*, Uzan* | ||
| Information | When the Soviet Union economically and politically self-destructed, Azerbaijan was born along with many other small states in the Black Sea-Caucasus-Caspian Sea region. The centuries old ethnic conflicts that had been suppressed, but not resolved, by Soviet reign came to the forefront. Economically, Azerbaijan is blessed with large oil deposits giving hope for its future economy; Central and Eastern Europe is the market for the oil. Unfortunately, there is little other industry.
By and large, aside from a culture of government corruption, the problems that are faced by Azerbaijan are regional. Ethnic Armenian secessionists are supported by Armenia. And the Naxcivan portion of Azerjaiban is physically seperated from the rest of the country by Armenia. Oil rights in the Caspian sea are contested between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Iran. The other major problem of this small natin is the illegal cultivation of marijuana and opium destined primarily for former Soviet nations. The superhero team of Div and Uzan have been operating in the country for several years now. They fight crime and have generally stayed away from state officials who wish to bring them under the wing of the government. Young children seem to idolize them in the way that children in other countries idolize sports figures or superheroes. |

|
Bahamas (Commonwealth of The Bahamas)
| Capital | Nassau | Population | 302,000 |
| Language | English | GDP per Capita | $17,700 |
| Known Ubers | Domino | ||
| Information | A large chain of islands in the Northern Caribbean, the Bahamas are a popular tourism destination, especially for Americans. Offshore banking and emerging e-commerce has bolstered this fairly stable economy. At the same time, it has chronic problems with Haitian refugees and drug trafficking. An uber calling himself Domino has steadily become a major player in the illegal human and drug trafficking trades. As he freely kills anyone who stands in his way he is wanted by American and International law enforcement agencies. In addition, the islands are popular locales for infestation by the School and Deep6. Sanction has confronted all of these entities in the Bahamas several times over the past two decades. |
||
|
|
Bahrain (Kingdom of Bahrain; Mamlakat al Bahrayn)
| Capital | Manama | Population | 688,000 |
| Language | Arabic | GDP per Capita | $19,200 |
| Known Ubers | Pearl, X-ray | ||
| Information | Once a significant petroleum producer, this island kingdom in the Persian Gulf is transforming its economy towards petroleum refining and international banking. The advanced infrastructure of the country also makes it popular as a business center of the Gulf. Water and unemployment are the other areas of concern for this nation.
In general, the Five Pillars are deemed to be the superheroes of Bahrain (as well as other Arab nations of the region). X-ray is an aspiring hero who has been mentored by Pear of the Five Pillars. This powerful young uber has been seen fighting crime from time-to-time. |
||
|
|
Bangladesh (Bangladesh Protectorate Of India)
| Capital | Dhaka | Population | 144,320,000 |
| Language | Bangla (Bengali) | GDP per Capita | $2,000 |
| Known Ubers | Shapla, Umbra* | ||
| Information | After bloody infighting during the 1970s, Bangladesh gained independence but was never able to achieve much economic success with spiralling living standards and an ever growing population. When India invaded in 2002, Bangladesh was unable to muster a strong enough defence force to withstand The Assembly, and became a Protectorate of India. Living conditions have dropped and positions of authority are generally given to citizens of India. The Bangladeshi uberhuman population was either assimilated by The Assembly, in the case of Umbra, or eliminated, although Bangladesh never seemed to have a large uberhuman population to begin with. Most of their ubers are low-powered and generally go undetected in society. | ||
|
|
Barbados (Barbados) | ||
| Capital | Bridgetown | Population | 279,200 |
| Language | English | GDP per Capita | $16,400 |
| Known Ubers | (Arcane*), (The Astrologer*), Lady Luck*, (Prospero*), (Sign*), | ||
| Information | This Southern Caribbean island is fairly stable economically and politically. In addition to tourism and sugar, there is a diversity in light industry. The government plays an active role in stimulating the economy through incentives. There is a black economy as well driven by drug trafficking and shady offshore banking.
The major superhuman activity here is the Zodiac Agency. The government of Barbados has it listed as a Security Consultation Company although most law enforcement agencies consider Zodiac to be more than a bunch of security consultants. As long as they pay their taxes, it is unlikely that the government will interfere with their endeavors. |
||
|
|
Belarus (Republic of Belarus; Respublika Byelarus)
| Capital | Minsk | Population | 10,300,000 |
| Language | Belarusian, Russian | GDP per Capita | $6,800 |
| Known Ubers | White Russian | ||
| Information | East of Russia and north of the Ukraine, of all the nations formerly comprising the Soviet Union, Belarus has changed the least. The economy remains largely state owned. Its industry and agriculture and relies on Russia as its major trade partner. Still the personal economics of its citizens has fared well since the fall of the Soviet Union, but it is apparent that reported economic indicaters are likely to be exagerated or underreported to give a more favorable appearance.
There is a large degree of political and social unrest. The president, Lukashenko, rules dictatorially in the Soviet style. Recently he, with the support of ethnic Russians and former Communists, is attempting to form a closer union with Russia. Many others desire to keep Belarus separate. The uberhuman known as White Russian has at times been considered an enemy of the state, but has been pardoned by both Belarus and Russia. Still, both are closely monitoring him as he has a tendency towards violence. |
||
|
|
Belgium (Kingdom of Belgium; Royaume de Belgique)
| Capital | Brussels | Population | 10,364,000 |
| Language | Dutch, French | GDP per Capita | $30,600 |
| Known Ubers | Confession, Le Homme Jouet* | ||
| Information | This small European constitutional monarchy is located primarily in the lowlands between France and Germany. Its economy is primarily fueled by diverse industry that relies heavily on both the import of foreign natural resources and the export of manufactured goods. The majority of its trade is with other European Union nations. While there is a relatively large public debt, the government has worked at balancing the budget.
One of the major areas of concern is the synthetic drug industry which both creates drugs such as ecstasy and provides chemicals for cocaine processing. Drug trafficking and money laundering also plague the law enforcement organizations. The mad inventor known as Le Homme Jouet (the Toy Man) has also been an occasional thorn-in-the-side as he creates dangerous and destructive weapons that look like childrens toys. |

|
Belize (Belize) | ||
| Capital | Belmopan | Population | 279,000 |
| Language | English | GDP per Capita | $6,500 |
| Known Ubers | (Barracuda), (Brain Coral*), Capitan Jaguar, Reef* | ||
| Information | This poor nation is rich in history and in natural attractions. Unemployment, poverty, and foreign debt seems intertwined with drug trafficking, money laundering, and urban crime. There is reason for hope, however. Tourism (especially eco-tourism) and other industries are helping the economy. At the same time, The Caribbean Crew, a superhero team of Brain Coral, Lamprey, and Reef, have been helping to establish law both in Belize and in other Caribbean countries. |
||
|
|
Benin (Republic of Benin; Republique du Benin)
| Capital | Porto-Novo | Population | 7,460,000 |
| Language | French | GDP per Capita | $1,200 |
| Known Ubers | Agwe*, Ayza*, Baka*, Dambala*, Ezili, Ogun*, Yemanja* | ||
| Information | During the European Colonial period this country was part of the West African coastal region that supplied slaves that were taken to the Americas. It was ruled by France from the 19th century until 1960 whereupon it underwent a series of dictatorships, military and communist. Finally in the last decade of the 20th century it became a republic.
While becoming somewhat politically stable, this nation faces many challenges economically and internationally. Although inflation has become under control, the infrastructure needs development, and thus much of the economy remains agricultural with a large degree of subsistence farming. Border disputes with most of its neighbors plagues the government as does a small degree of narcotics trafficking and money laundering. Recently a team of superheroes known as the Rada Team has based itself in Porto-Novo. This team, consisting of the supernatural being Yemanja and her allies Agwe, Baka, Dambala, Ezili, and Ogun, has served as a force of stability both for Benin and for the region. |

|
|
Bhutan (Kingdom of Bhutan)
| Capital | Thimphu | Population | 2,232,000 |
| Language | Dzongkha, Nepalese, Tibetan | GDP per Capita | $1,400 |
| Known Ubers | Thunder Dragon* | ||
| Information | A small country,
Bhutan has been fortunate to avoid major external conflict primarily
because of its mountainous geography. Its economy is closely tied to that
of Bangladesh, Japan, and Germany, and it also sells substantial amounts
of hydroelectric power to India. Internal political turmoil and occasional
economic factors have resulted in a sizeable Bhutanese refugee population
in Nepal.
While the enlarged and somewhat aggressive India has looked at securing some of its energy needs through annexation of Bhutan, there have been nothing more than clandestine information gathering raids. Members of the Assembly have been seen by a very small number of Bhutanese, and these have just fueled the rumours. The mystic martial artist, Thunder Dragon, has been outspoken on this matter - especially after the annexations of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh - proclaiming that Bhutan is for the Bhutanese and not for India. |

|
|
Bolivia (Republic of Bolivia; Republica de Bolivia )
| Capital | La Paz | Population | 8,858,000 |
| Language | Spanish, Quechua, Aymara | GDP per Capita | $2,600 |
| Known Ubers | Saeta Rojo, Vinchuca | ||
| Information | Despite having great wealth in mineral and hydrocarbon resources, one of the major exports of this impoverished country is cocaine. After severe protests against the pro-foreign investment policies of the former government, the current government, proclaiming itself to be a guardian of the common worker has set itself to change the socio-economic incongruities. Natural gas and petroleum companies have been partially nationalized.
Still much remains to be seen regarding the new regime's aggressive agenda. Attempts to eliminate cocaine production has met with protests as many of the farmers depend on it as their livelihood. While the general economy has grown, corruption still stands as a major barrier. La Paz serves as the local headquarters of the International House of Crime and its South American operative, Vinchuca. It is also the original playground for the superthief, Saeta Rojo. Both are on the government's top ten most wanted. No superhero team calls Bolivia home, but the Southern Knights have occasionally helped with big threats. |

|
Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnia and Herzegovina; Bosna i Hercegovina)
| Capital | Sarajevo | Population | 4,025,000 |
| Language | Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian | GDP per Capita | $6,500 |
| Known Ubers | Doctor KojicPartisan* | ||
| Information | Of the former Yugoslav provinces, Bosnia and Herzegovina suffers the most from its past. In addition to the burden of the command economy of Communist Yugoslavia, this manufacturing plants of this province were primarily producing military equipment. Thus, in a modern economy, there is a huge amount of investment needed to convert them to the production of saleable consumer goods.
During the Communist regime era, ethnic tensions were repressed and left to fester. In the mid 1990s ethnic civil warfare errupted among Serbs, Croats, and Bosniak Muslims. This was exacerbated by aid sent to the factions by other former Yugoslav states. In 1996, an international peacekeeping force finally put a halt to the war which involved instances of genocide on all sides. The populace suffered severely from this war and still bears the scars. Approximately 300,000 of its people remain internally displaced. The economic recovery has been slow, but steady. During the ethnic wars of the mid 1990s, each side made use of superhumans, primarily as assassins. In the end, the Serb known as Partisan assassinated the Croat's River Rush and the Muslim's Ottoman Moon. Partisan is currently known to be a member of the mercenary uberteam known as T.I.T.A.N. Another uberhuman, the psychotic Doctor Kojic, has also emerged during the war but seems to align himself with nobody. |

Botswana (Republic of Botswana)
| Capital | Gaborone | Population | 1,640,000 |
| Language | Setswana, English | GDP per Capita | $9,200 |
| Known Ubers | Firebird*, (Onus), Parhelion*, Peacemaker, (Silver Sun)*, Stealth | ||
| Information | Botswana is a relatively stable country in the southern part of Africa. The government's fiscal policy as well as a natural wealth in diamonds and has allowed sustained economic growth for most of the past four decades. The remainder of the involves mining, small farm agriculture, and tourism (especially, recently, ecotourism). The majority of its trade is with South Africa and the European Union.
Despite being politically and economically stable, there are two problems that plague this country. The high level of unemployment has led to a large degree of poverty in this nation. Also, there is an extremely high rate of AIDS which is partially offset by having one of the most progressive AIDS health programs on the continent. The Tsholofelo family, known as advocates for the people of Botswana and superheroes, has expanded its ambitions for a safe, healthy, and prosperous Africa. They led the Nairobi Conference which led to the formation of Africa Force. Five teams were created to safeguard the people of the twenty countries that ratified the pact. Africa Force Five, led by the Tsholofelo family is based in Gaborone, Botswana. |

Brazil (Federative Republic of Brazil; Republica Federativa do Brasil)
| Capital | Brasilia | Population | 186,112,000 |
| Language | Portuguese | GDP per Capita | $8,100 |
| Known Ubers | Anaconda, (Carvao), Destino, Embrace, Esperança, Mister Bug, Omen, Robber Bride, (Sartorial)*, Southern Cross*, (Vento Escura) | ||
| Information | Brazil is the largest nation of South America in size, economy, and population. With a diversified economy, this country exports and imports with most of the world. It is rich in a wide variety of natural resources, much of which is under development in the interior.
Several of its borders with neighboring nations are still being negotiated. It is in these regions where many illicit activities occur including narcotics trafficking, illegal weapons distribution, and funding for extremist organizations. The city of Rio de Janeiro suffered substantially from superhuman activity, being destroyed during a battle between Professor Quake and an ancient god. Hence politicians and law enforcement officials are wary of and like to keep a close eye on paranormal activities within the country. Several powerful superhuman groups have been known to operate in Brazil including the Southern Knights, Southern Cross International, Gauntlet, and the more mysterious Emerald Crane. |

|
Brunei (Sultanate of Brunei; Negara Brunei Darussalam)
| Capital | Bandar Seri Begawan | Population | 372,000 |
| Language | Malay | GDP per Capita | $23,600 |
| Known Ubers | Luwalhati | ||
| Information | Although nominally a constitutional monarchy, Brunei has been primarily ruled by a sultan of the same family for the past five centuries. Largely surrounded by Malaysia, its primary international conflicts are over oil exploration and drilling rights. Internally, law is strict and generally adherent to Muslim law; and with a punishment of death, drug trafficking is extremely rare.
The Sultanate has close ties with the United Kingdom and Singapore. A battalion of Gurkhas remains in the only East Asian British base. A Singaporean training base also is present in Brunei. Economically, this oil-rich nation trades primarily with Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. The entire economy is based almost entirely on petroleum and natural gas exports and imports of manufactured goods. Superhuman teams from Malaysia and Singapore have occationally operated in Brunei. There was also a single incident with the Chinese Immortals superteam. The new superhero Luwalhati has been a recent presence in the country and has, to some extent affected the criminal underworld operations in Brunei of Evol Khan. |

|
Bulgaria (Republic of Bulgaria)
| Capital | Sofia | Population | 7,450,000 |
| Language | Bulgarian | GDP per Capita | $8,200 |
| Known Ubers | Besnik Boiko*, Siege* | ||
| Information | The country that is now Bulgaria has long been both a crossroads and a strategically contested hotspot. Greeks, Persians, Romans, Huns, Slavs, Germans, Turks, and Russians have each at one time or another ruled this land. Currently, it is a democratic state with a market economy and one of the newer members of NATO; quite different from its previous role as the most stable Soviet satellite and a major source of its most highly trained agents and assassins.
While the Bulgarian government has not completely cleaned up government corruption and organized crime issues, it has significantly improved. Furthermore, since moving to a market economy, there has been steady growth with textiles and mining serving as the major industries. In general, there has been little superhuman activity in this country. The cyborg, Siege, after a brief fit of rage destroying two buildings in Sofia, is rarely seen in Bulgaria having joined the mercenary group T.I.T.A.N. The cardmaster, Besnik Boiko has been known to help out here and there, but he is primarily a wanderer. |

Burkina Faso (Burkina Faso)
| Capital | Ouagadougou | Population | 13,925,000 |
| Language | French, Sudanese | GDP per Capita | $1,200 |
| Known Ubers | Blaise Salembere, Monique Diallo, Shaft* | ||
| Information | This landlocked West African nation of savanna was formerly a French colony. The Burkinabe are primarily subsistence farmers or migrant farm workers. Poor soil, deforestation, erosion, poor education, and a relatively large population contribute to this. The economy is further hurt by civil war in neighboring Liberia, Ghana, and Cote d'Ivoire. Despite this, the country is rather stable politically.
Africa Force Four, the pride of Burkina Faso and most of West Africa, was recently destroyed by the Sons of Set. The sole survivors in the AF4 headquarters in Ouagadougou vowed to keep the team alive. These three, Shaft, Monique Diallo, and Dr. Blaise Salembere have kept the peace for the past months despite their moderate power level. For significant threats, they are assisted by Africa Force 1 based in Nairobi, Kenya. |

Burma (Union of Myanmar; Pyidaungzu Myanma Naingngandaw)
| Capital | Rangoon | Population | 42,909,000 |
| Language | Burmese | GDP per Capita | $1,700 |
| Known Ubers | Lotus | ||
| Information | If it weren't
hampered by a military regime and corruption, this nominally socialist
state could be one of Asia's 'Tigers'. Burma (or Myanmar) is rich with
resources. However, rural poverty and substantial inflation make economic
growth difficult. A financial crisis has further weakened Burma's economy.
Burma has had tensions with Communist China, India, and Thailand. Currently, tensions with India and Thailand are regarding rebel factions. Water rights issues cause tension with China. Narcotics production and trafficking (especially opium) are another major international sore point for this country. As part of its effort to clamp down on dissidents, the government has established a Superhuman Justice Battalion whose main task is to apprehend any uber or other superhuman within its borders. If apprehension is not a feasible option, this task force is allowed to use lethal force. S.A.G.E. estimates that approximately 14 superhumans have been executed and an equal number were slain; the Burmese military is believed to have at least four superhumans imprisoned as well. A single superhuman, known as Lotus, is believed to be in hiding deep within the jungle near the border with Laos and Thailand. |

Burundi (Republic of Burundi; Republika y'u Burundi)
| Capital | Bujumbura | Population | 6,370,000 |
| Language | Kirundi, French, Swahili | GDP per Capita | $600 |
| Known Ubers | Chui Uramali* | ||
| Information | Since the early 1990s, this country and this region has been plagued by ethnic warfare, primarily between the Tutsi and the Hutu peoples. The government, with the assistance of South Africa and Africa Force Three, has negotiated a cease fire between the factions. The UN retains a peacekeeping force in Burundi. Yet, there is still low levels of conflict.
The general lack of good natural resources and the control of the coffee trade by the Tutsi minority has inflamed the ethnic tension. The economy is further hampered by high poverty, poor education, and a weak government. The uberhumans of Burundi have all been slain. The single Tutsi uberhuman died in a battle with two Hutu uberhumans. Those two and three others of the Hutu were killed by Tutsi death squads. A single spirit-animal-man known as Chui Uramali now hunts in both Burundi and Rwanda. |

Cambodia (Kingdom of Cambodia; Preahreacheanachakr Kampuchea)
| Capital | Phnom Penh | Population | 13,607,000 |
| Language | Khmer | GDP per Capita | $2,000 |
| Known Ubers | The Collective, Counter-Progress, Elder Sunrise*, Killing Field | ||
| Information | Cambodia's economy
has been steadily growing for the past five years with textile/garment and
tourism being the major driving forces. The problems of the Khmer Rouge
have progressively lessened and democratization has gained a foothold
here. In short, there is reason for hope in this country that has known
internal conflict for centuries.
Internationally, Cambodia is recognized as a major producer of marijuana and opium as well as other narcotics. Loose controls on financial institutions and porous borders facilitate money laundering as well. Minor issues are reason for slight tension with Thailand and Vietnam. Superhuman activity is fairly limited in Cambodia. A respected uber known as Elder Sunrise has been helping ubers to lead relatively normal lives. There are rumours of a resurgence of the Khmer Rouge led by an uber known as The Collective and supported by two others known as Counter-Progress and the Killing Field. But, the majority of superhuman activity is at the S.A.G.E. base hidden under the ruins of Angkor Wat. |

Cameroon (Republic of Cameroon; Republique du Cameroon)
| Capital | Yaounde | Population | 16,380,000 |
| Language | English, French | GDP per Capita | $1,900 |
| Known Ubers | Abtu*, Anet*, Induna*, (Uadjet*) | ||
| Information | Somewhere in between a true republic and an oligarchy, Cameroon has enjoyed a fair amount of stability. Good infrastructure and utilization of natural resources including oil and good agricultural land have enhanced this stability. Cameroonian oil, coffee, and cocoa (as well as other agricultural products) are traded with Western Europe for manufactured goods. Still, much of the population practices subsistence farming and greater economic growth is hampered by unemployment and remnants of government corruption.
In addition to the now minor border disputes and the general crime problems due to unemployment, there has been a surge in smuggling operations out of Cameroon. Once the home of the Ondoa family operations, this is now dominated by the Sunset Cartel which does business throughout West Africa as well as certain ports in the Americas. The Sunset Cartel membership of the Egyptian cult snake dancer known as Uadjet has led S.A.G.E. to believe that there is a connection with the Sons of Set. |

| Language | English, French | GDP per Capita | $31,500 |
| Known Ubers | The Analogist, Cyba, Ghostkeeper, Iron Maiden, Mermaid, WildSpirit, Z | ||
| Information | A land of vast area and natural resources, Canada is closely tied with both the United States and the United Kingdom. It has a relatively sparsely popution except in the area near the US border and in the oil and agricultural belt. Unlike most developed nations, it is a net exporter of energy, primarily petroleum and natural gas, but also hydroelectric power. Service, agriculture and lumber make up the bulk of the remaining economy, but mining and manufacturing industries are also large and diversified.
This is a very stable country, but with problems that are typical of developed nations. Political lobbying groups pressure the government with their agenda. Urban crime is persistent. The longstanding Quebec separatists have been less active in recent years. Peace in Canada has been kept by local law enforcement, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and The Canadian Shield team of superheroes. In recent years, the Canadian Shield was disbanded, and restarted again. In addition, it is rumored that the government also maintains a set of black ops agents code named X, Y, and Z. There are also a number of villainous uberhumans and superhumans including the robot horde of Iron Maiden. |

cheap counterfeit goods drive one of the world's fastest growing
economies. Commerce and industry are rapidly growing while the country
still struggles with oligarchical autocratic rule. Social freedoms have
been slowly increasing, but legal freedoms lag as well as technological
innovation.
In the recent past, Communist China has had border wars with nearly all neighboring countries. Chinese superhero teams have had conflict with teams from India, Russia, the Republic of China, Vietnam, and Japan.

| Information | It is surprising that Colombia's economy is strengthening. This is largely due to better government budgeting, financial reform, and coffee exports. Continually plagued by problems stemming from the drug cartels, this country is strewn with violence. Terrorist groups, drug cartels, and paramilitaries vie for control of rural territory and the drug trade. The government has recently been stepping up military activities against all of these. Currently, the tide is in the favor of the cartels who have recruited a trio of superhumans, Tres Gamberros: Ladrillo Rojo, Veneno de la Arana, and Arma Anaranjado. |

| Capital | Kinshasa | Population | 59,386,000 |
| Language | French, Swahili | GDP per Capita | $700 |
| Known Ubers | Congo | ||
| Information | Known previously as the Belgian Congo and Zaire, this nation has had more than its share of strife. For much of the latter half of the twentieth century, it was ruled by the warlords, Mobutu Sese Seko. During the period of ethnic violence in Rwanda and Burundi in the 1990s, Laurent Kabila overthrew Mobutu and established himself as dictator. At the same time, Akello Lwanga (known as the Witch Doctor), seized power in a small part of the country and proclaimed it his kingdom of Azambia. Civil war, including meddling from Uganda, Rwanda, and Azambia followed for the next 3 years until the UN stepped in.
Due to the warfare, the DRC's industry and infrastructure has been severely hurt. In the past few years, there has been a slow but steady improvement. The mining and mineral processing industries provide most of the current economy, with most exports going to Belgium, the United States, Azambi, and China. Imports of manufactured goods and equipment are primarily from South Africa, Belgium, and Azambia. Problems with corruption still exists which hamper infrastructure development and industrial exploration. This country is within the zone protected by Africa Force One, who has been called upon several times to counter the Witch Doctor and the Hunt. In addition, the uberhuman mercenary known as Congo operates out of the jungles of this country. He has no master, but strives to destabilize nearby countries so that he will be gainfully and expensively employed by warlords. |

| Information | The exploitative rule of Spain was lifted after US Intervention and the island nation of Cuba was independent soon after. However, Fidel Castro and his cronies were able to establish a dictatorship by 1959 and have been in power since. For most of the latter 20th century, Cuba was bolstered by aid from the Soviet Union and its economy declined precipitously after the end of the communist superpower. The standard of living remains below that of the Soviet period, but because of the iron hand of the Party, crime is relatively low. The Cubans report all superhuman incidences to their political apparatchiks and any children that show any sort of ability are brought to Fidel. The weaker of these are placed in the tax collection department, the stronger are cultivated in Equipo de los Fidel. Currently, this team includes Arenador, Boxeador, and Resbalador. Their major task is to capture violent criminals for placement on refugee ships that attempt to escape to the United States. In addition to serving as Cuba's superteam, they also participate in Cuba's boxing and baseball teams. |

| Information | This Eastern Caribbean island was last to be colonized by Europeans. After independence, corruption plagued the government, but this was remedied by the current administration. The vulnerable economy is highly dependent on agriculture, especially bananas. Due to geography and infrastructure, tourism does not play a large role economically. | Information | The western half of the island of Hispaniola as been chronically plagued with political violence. The current situation is no exception. Over the past three decades three superhuman warlords have consolidated their power. Currently, they are locked in a series of cease-fire and active war with each other for control of Haiti. Maitre de Jungle controls the southern peninsula, Voodou Majik controls the portion of the country north of the capital, and Vert de Tueur holds Port-Au-Prince and the areas nearby. Nearly all uberhumans residing in Haiti are either co-opted by one of the three warlords or have left the country. Because of the violence and lack of stable, beneficial government, this is the poorest nation in the Americas. The majority of the economy is subsistence agriculture and foreign aid (which is inconsistent due to the lack of a Haitian government). Inflation, unemployment, poverty, lack of investment, and a severe AIDS epidemic are the direct and obvious results. |

| Information | Long a jewel of the
British Empire, Hong Kong was 'leased' from the Chinese Empire. In 1997,
however, it was 'returned' to the People's Republic of China. It is still
a prosperous city, but has suffered from a brain drain just prior to 1997.
After weathering a financial and economic crisis, its economy is once
again growing. Previously apolitical, in recent years, the citizens of
Hong Kong have found a voice and have become advocates of democratization
of China, a ray of hope in a country that has long been autocratic.
The international community has been lulled after initial alarm at the transfer of Hong Kong. But, with ownership by Communist China, it is difficult to know what to expect. Law enforcement under the regime has been stricter than before, but more susceptible to corruption. Thus, drug trafficking still remains one of major problems in Hong Kong. The Immortals and Gang of Five have both carried out operations in Hong Kong. In addition, the city is home to at least three tongs, two major kung fu schools, and one group of uber mercenaries. The hero, Freedom, once a prominent public member of the now defunct Harbor Heroes, now works as a vigilante still protecting the people of Hong Kong as well as espousing democratic ideals. |
