Crimebusters Background

Genaral Hughes, Commodore Linden, Colonel Howard, and Captain Reynolds, this afternoon, I will be describing the Liberty Legion project. As you know I and Sergeant Baker of Army G-3 have been liaising with the organization known as the Crimebusters. As we know, Asia is already at war. Word from the Pentagon indicates that Europe is about to go into full fledged war as well. With the powers at war having colonies in Africa, it is clear that the world will soon see another World War. And it would be remiss if we didn't plan for American participation at war.

Before I go into the organizational aspects of utilizing a non-military, non-government organization in war and the reasons that this must be done, I will first give you a bit of background.

The Crimebusters evolved after the extraterrestrial incidence near Grovers Mill, New Jersey, nearly a year ago. The Mystery Men known as the Mask of Justice, Uncle Sam, and Gravity Man, along with the negro Mystery Man known as Barnstormer and his young follower, Tailgunner, banned together to fight crime and the unknown. This was natural as each recognized skills and abilities that the others had that could complement their own. None of them had psychological hangups that would preclude working as a team.

Since that time, they have stopped many petty crimes and stopped a number of criminal Mystery Men. Most recently they captured Babyface, who had attempted to kill off the Federal Reserve. They had also captured a hypnotist who was going to use a crowd of people at the Worlds Fair against them. The Crimebusters have added to their ranks another Mystery Man and a pair of Myster Women that were instrumental to solving this caper: Cliffhanger, Arcana, and Princess Power.

An anonymous philanthropist has recently purchased a run-down building in Manhattan and donated it to the team. They have cleaned it up and now use it as a meeting place, and to some, a home.

We believe that others may soon join their ranks. In a recent bit of good luck, I have been contacted by a Mystery Woman, called Prime, who is a refugee of Spain and a Mystery Man who has been around the world but is of German origin. Bastion, he calls himself, and Prime may be excellent assets for the upcoming war. Other Mystery Men abound throughout the United States, but most are fairly independent. We are keeping a close eye on Major Freedom, a product of our own supersoldier program.

Areas of Operation: While primarily based in New York City, NY, USA, the individuals of the Crimebusters fight crime throughout the Atlantic coast of America. Occasionally, they fight Axis criminals throughout the world as well.

Goals: The goal of the Crimebusters team is to fight crime, save the lives of innocents, and upholds the values of the nation. They also generally like to set a good example for the citizens of the United States.

Reputation: The Crimebusters are renowned True Blue heroes and, with the exception of the villains that they counter and the Axis powers, they are well regarded.
