Background

Secrets always fascinated Virgil Davis, and even as a young boy, before he grew hideous but deadly limbs from his back, Virgil used the power of blackmail to lift himself above the world of bullies at his impoverished government school. Although a skinny kid he managed to strike fear into those around him. Virgil became obsessed with the power he had over his peers: he controlled everything.

But his carefully constructed world came undone. His parents fled local trouble and slipped illegally into the United States hoping to reinvent their lives. Virgil was dumped into a more violent world. Miami was full of ten-year old scammers and he found himself flailing, unable to restore his influence which had satisfied him in Jamaica.

He was forced to join a gang and became a little cog in a complicated and deadly machine. His rise through the ranks was slow but determined, and as he reached mid-adolescence he was well placed to make a desperate bid for leadership. He blackmailed his superior, but things turned sour when the older boy pulled a gun and fired at Virgil. It was the first time he had been fired upon, but unfortunately it wouldn't be the last.

Virgil found himself scuttling back from the older boy, up and around the wall. The boy's face was contorted with shock and fear: a timely pause which allowed Virgil to lash out with thin and deadly limbs which had sprouted from his back. Two spear-liked limbs struck out and impaled the boy, and so Daddy Long Legs was born.

He moved up through the ranks a lot quicker once news of his mutation spread, and several decades later he now heads a major element of the organised crime in Miami, specialising in information retrieval, blackmail and extortion. He cultivates secrets and welcomes newcomers who wish to offer him allegiance.

In recent times, Daddy Long Legs was approached by several other spider-themed villains and joined their team, Venom, although Daddy Long Legs refuses to go into direct action preferring to remain behind the scenes and to gather information for the others to use in their various criminal activities.  He finds the association amusing and wonders why he hadn't entered the supervillain world before.  Of course, he would never allow harm to come to himself and so will betray his fellow spiders to save himself.
Personality
Daddy Long Legs considers himself a cultivated and suave villain and respects those who treat him with the deference he deserves. He will quite happily converse with heroes who do not oppose his operations, and has been known to exchange information (although he always requires suitable knowledge in exchange). When cornered or threatened, however, he is capable of direct and lightning-fast strikes.

Daddy Long Legs has grown four spider-like limbs from his back as well as several key changes in his body and metabolism. He has enhanced strength, speed and senses as well as very sharp and penetrating spikes on the ends of his spider legs.
Appearance

Virgil is a tall, but thin, man with dark skin and a cultivated air about him which he is very careful to maintain. He is always dressed in designer suits, preferably Brooks Brothers. He has four spider limbs sprouting from his back which extend to 2m in length. The legs are covered with dark hair and tipped with lethal points.
