María and Marilú Coronel were considered unexceptional in their small town of Zamora. Apart from being identical twins they were little more than a pair of plain girls from a poor family. Their father worked in nearby Nambija, which was even smaller than Zamora and known for nothing apart from its battered gold mine. When their father died in a mining disaster everyone seemed to readily accept that the girls would be sent off to the city. There wasn't much in the way of alternatives and no one missed them much, not even their mother. |

The Earthquake Twins are young and naive. At sixteen, they are a little unbalanced. They have grown up in poverty and ignorance, but now wield enormous raw power. Their outlook on life is coloured by popular culture and their own sense of what is right and wrong. Usually this involves 'right' being what they want and 'wrong' being what they don't want. Ocelot has managed to lead them in the direction of career criminals and as they grow older they are becoming more and more accustomed to living in their own moral code. The girls are very close to each other. While most twins separate just after conception, María and Marilú were actually born as an individual. It was their ubergene which enabled them to separate into two individuals after birth, something which their parents and the local doctor were quite happy to keep secret, so much so that the girls themselves have no idea about the circumstances of their birth. |

The twins are capable of unleashing seismic disruptions, often resulting in earthquakes of varying magnitude. They can release this energy as physical shockwaves carried through the air or through the ground, often with devastating effects. They are able to manipulate this force in a variety of ways, such as using it to carry them along through the air, as well as create force fields and manipulating rock and stone. Their power is severely limited, however, and requires that the girls maintain physical contact. |

María and Marilú are identical twins. They have large brown eyes, shoulder-length straight black hair with a severe fringe across a high forehead, and pale skin, especially considering their mestizo heritage. They normally wear identical clothing which is generally off the rack street wear, but when on duty they wear durable kevlar armour provided by Ocelot. The armour is a black bodysuit and the girls wear a brown vest, elbow pads, gloves and boots. The vest has a white shockwave pattern. |
