Dr Joseph Mengele began kidnapping young ubers during the 1960s, but his original experiments into the ubergene resulting in a lot of dead test subjects and only a small amount of information. During the 1970s and early 1980s his research began to gain momentum and it was his 'Blitzkrieg Batch' which produced the first uberhuman strike team for the Kinder der Zukunft. While his later experiments concerned turning his young ubers into almost mindless husks, the 'Blitzkrieg Batch' were harvested for their potential power levels.

Greta Kleinstock was kidnapped shortly after her parents were killed in a skirmish between the East and West German uber teams in 1984. Mengele took her in the confusion that followed and spirited her away to South America where he began to reprogramme her to a more pro-Nazi ideology. Greta was traumatised in the following months and has since lost most of her humanity. She feels very little and seems to have no particular interest in herself or the future.

The Blitzkrieg team worked for Mengele initially but shortly before S.A.G.E. publicly exposed Mengele's continued existence and threat to the world, Blitzkrieg had become semi-independent. They returned to Germany to incite neo-Nazi factions and to cause trouble for Germany and other European countries.

Gegenschein is an adult woman but is almost alien in her outlook. She does what she pleases and takes no interest in the expectations of society around her. She is a devout Nazi and sees Mengele as her father, although exactly what they means is difficult to judge as Gegenschein isn't exactly the type to 'love and obey' her father.

At times it seems that she has her own agenda, but that is possibly just another facet of her shattered psyche. She stays with Blitzkrieg because they have shared the poisonous experimental upbringing of the Vaterschmerz.

"I don't hate Vaterschmerz for what he has done to us. Like everything in this world, pain is the beginning of understanding."

Gegenschein is able to absorb light and utilise its stored energy for a variety of effects, including: the production of flares and energy blasts, the ability to bend light around her to render herself invisible, and the basic ability to produce light. She also has the ability to absorb energy of all forms, and it is theorised that she has the potential to generate other forms of energy in the future. Gegenschein is already an impressive opponent, so if her potential manifests she could be considered one of the greatest threats to the world.

Greta is a tall and broad shouldered woman with a wild tangle of blonde hair. Her face seems hard and inhuman, especially the glowing white eyes which first manifested itself in Mengele's experimental chambers. Her costume is armoured and is black, like the rest of the Blitzkrieg team, although hers also includes a variety of starbursts.
