Background

Weaving left and right to avoid colliding with other students as she ran down the hall, Alana Moore turned into the open door on the left. Lunch time just made this whole place crazy. She needed to change and quickly. And she didn't need stray and unwanted eyes to see it.

Room 241 was just the right place to do it, too. The window was always open and there would only be one person in the room. And he already knew.

Willing her body to chill, she suddenly felt warm as her body adjusted. A thick, hard layer of pliable ice covered her skin. As Alana froze water vapor out of the air and stepped on it, she looked to the right at the man who bore a concerned face. That he wore a bow tie and looked completely weird in his threads was no point of note to her. Doc Spiel was always like that. "I be goin', Doc. I ain't comin' back... But yo got my cell, right?"

"Er, why, yes, of course, Alana." He stood up and took some steps toward the window as well, quickly taking a strange belt out of his desk draw and strapping it on. "Trouble?"

"Yeah. In my hood. I saw it on streamin' vid. Two houses away from my mom's apartment." For a second, the anger melted away from her face and a tear streamed down from her eye. "My best friend was shot. This is gettin outta hand."

"Let me help then." He retrieved a cloak from the cabinet and retrieve a strange looking puzzle from the belt in one hand and a segmented snake-like contraption in the other.

"Thanks. Thanks D.P., but no. This is my fight. This is my crib." She slid down from the window and into the street on a sheet of ice heading for East L.A. Her last words were, "They need me there. I'm ready... thanks to you, Doc,... and the other teaches and homeys. Give 'em my luv."

Five minutes later, Alana was gliding through the hood. Gangs on both side were firing all manners of guns - hand guns, shotguns, even a lot of submachine guns. They were trying to kill each other and didn't care jack about anyone else that was around. They all were silent in seconds and their wielders unmoving in their prisons of ice.

"Ice? In L.A.?!" Alana heard a woman say from behind the window of one of the buildings.

Another woman in that same woman just said, "Hella chill!"

Personality
After three years at the Los Angeles Numen-Kami Institute, Alana has studied and worked hadrd. She has taken to heart the philosophical debates from the Uberhuman Ethics class. She wants things to be better in her crib and so has taken it upon herself to clean it up as Hella Chill. The good people there have become heartened by her efforts while the gangsters actively try to put a bullet in her when they are not doing that to their rivals. She has nearly been killed a dozen or so times, but she feels that the reason that she had been given her powers is to win the war.

When things heat up in the hoods of L.A. and elite law enforcement agents or superhero teams look into the problem, the first person they try to contact is Hella Chill.

Powers

Hella Chill is a mutant with the ability to freeze water vapor in the air into ice. When she activates her powers, a shell of compacted ice forms around her and the air around her turns arctic cold. She can condense water vapor into a sliding platform to propel her quickly about or she can use the powers offensively in a number of ways.

Appearance

Alana likes to wear plain colored sleeveless blouses and jeans - nothing fancy, but definitely non-gang style clothing. She keeps her hair in cornrows with beaded braids extending from the base of her skull. As Hella Chill, she wears a costume of black with silver trim and, as her personal logo, the emblem of a chocolate ice cream cone in the middle of her chest. When her powers are activated in her superheroic identity, her eyes turn icy blue-gray.
