Herman Weisser was a peddler whose business had taken a downturn. To stay alive and still have wares to sell he had to take a loan from a banker, who, because of the large risk involved, asked for a steep term of interest. After another year of poor sales, he traveled to the southeast to escape his creditor. |

| To Herman, human beings are all either loyal subjects or allies who give him power, or vessels of the blood that sustains his vampiric needs. He looks with disdain upon 'inferior races' (according to his view of the world); such people only fall in the latter category.
