History of the Kxzxn
Socially, the Kxzxn went through a fairly normal history from agrarian to nation-states to industrial nations. The world was fairly mineral poor by the time that nuclear technology was discovered. Tensions over resources led to a protracted cold war. Then, a slightly insane member of one nation's government was able to seize power during a work strike. And, to stabilize the internal control, he ordered the use of nuclear weapons. In the space of two hours, 47 nuclear warheads exploded from the initial strike and the counterstrikes.

As fortune would have it, the UCW was carrying out its second survey of nearby worlds. Advisors were quickly sent in to help the Kxzxn survive and move forward. After a century, the political and economic situation turned around. Trade within the star system had recommenced and Kxzxn applied for and was granted status as an Associate World.

These arachnoids are hardy beings, able to withstand the stresses of even the vacuum of space. Evolutionarily, they arose in a thin atmosphere and moved underground and to their mining colonies after the Nuclear War. A couple will mate and the female will lay four eggs in a clutch. Due to radiation (on Kxzxn) or gravitation and atmosphere adaptation difficulties in the asteroid towns, anywhere from one to four (average of 1.72) will be viable and produce normal offspring. For some reason, males seem to outnumber females by a nearly 2:1 ratio. At the same time, about half the males are born sterile.
Area of Operations and Homeworld
Kxzxn is the fourth world in a star system dominated by a red giant sun. The thin atmosphere of predominantly nitrogen with minor amounts of carbon dioxide, oxygen, and water. Most liquid water is found in the polar ice caps and fifteen major lakes although there is a substantial amount found in subterranean rivers and lakes. Currently the atmosphere and surface of the planet is contaminated with radiation.

Roughly half of the population of Kxzxn is found in the asteroid belts where fusion plants and fusion fabricators provide the necessary sustenance to support the numerous mining towns.

Goals
The Kxzxn feel that they owe much to the UCW and, thus, both as a whole and as individuals, they are determined to prove their worth. Some of the population including one of the three major political factions believe that the eventual goal should be full membership in the UCW. They are thus working towards economic stability and social happiness.
Reputation
The Kxzxn are often perceived as a bit overzealous and even aggressive with regard to proving their worth to the UCW. Many of the people are just begining to realize that while the UCW appreciates their eagerness, what the Member Worlds really want are for them to become internally stable both politically and economically. The Kxzxn are well represented in the UCW Defense Forces particularly as starship engineers and space marines for situations where robots cannot be used.
