| Background |
When the legions of Pax Australis broke out of Australis the first country the invaded was the nearby Nova Zealand. There the legions encountered the remnants of the Maori people. The Maori stood no real chance against the advanced weaponry wielded by the legionnaires, and were slaughtered by the thousands. However, the Australis warlord in charge of the campaign was impressed with the sheer savagery of the Maori, and after capturing about hundred had them sent to the Lord Emperor as a gift. The rest of the Maori were eventually destroyed in a masterful stroke of genocide.Ganelon the Immortal, was impressed with his new slaves, and sent most of them to his sorcerer-scientists for a few modifications in their genetic code. The results were the Maori Imperial Guard, as group of guards unparalleled in all of Pax Australis. Now the public, and nobility knows that the Lord Emperor is guarded by a band of loyal guards who’ll gladly lay their lives down for the Lord Emperor. |
| Personality |
The Maori Imperial Guard all have a seething desire to see bloodshed. Only the calming presence of the Lord Emperor seems to keep them in check. Many courtiers to the Lord Emperor walk lightly around the temperamental imperial guard fearing that one of them might snap their leash. The guards aren’t known for their thinking ability. Their usual response to anything is to kill the problem, and then wonder about it later. Subtly is another thing that seems to make no impression on the guard. Trying to fool an imperial guard by words, is a sure way to get him to go into a killing rage.Due to genetic modification all imperial guards are loyal to the Lord Emperor unto death. There is no command given by the Lord Emperor that an imperial guard won’t follow throw with, even killing theirselves. |
| Quote |
Maori Imperial Guards aren't paid to talk. They're for intimidation. |
| Powers |
The Maori Imperial Guard are all impressive fighters. Each is at the top of physical human conditioning. On top of this the guard can go into a killing rage. It isn’t always successful, but when they do they become super-humanly strong, become almost impossible to stun, and become even more resistant to injury. In fact the Maori Imperial Guard are known to heal quickly from almost any kind of wound. Pain means little to an imperial guard, a guard is willing to lay down his life for the Lord Emperor. Each Maori Imperial Guard is armed with a dagger for close in killing, and with a bastard sword for the maximum amount of destruction. In addition each guard is imprinted with basic hand-to-hand combat skills, known as Imperial Guard Training. This training is brutal; meant to take out a foe quickly. |
| Appearance |
The Maori Imperial Guard, are all of an uniform size and shape. Each stands a little over six feet in height, and are extremely muscular. They have long black hair that is always combed back into a ponytail. The Maori Imperial Guard stands out from other Pax Australis soldiery because they never cover their faces. Instead the guards are covered from head to toe with tattoos. The ususal uniform of a Maori Imperial Guard is a pair of black trunks, sandals that strap up to their knees. Strapped to their right wrist is a sheathe that holds a dagger, while a similar sheathe is slung across their back that holds their bastard sword. The reason for the uniformity in physical characteristics, is that of the original one hundred Maori captured by the empire, the current Maori Imperial Guards are all clones of the original Maori. |
