| Background |
Ishwar followed his father and three uncles into the service of the Ghurkhas. He served patriotically in Kashmir, Sudan, Bosnia and Iraq but when he lost his legs in a mortar attack in northern Iraq Ishwar's military career was over. He was sent back to New Delhi where he faced the silent disappointment of his family. After several weeks, his father stopped visiting the military hospital. It was as if his father would have preferred him dead. When he was discharged from the hospital, Ishwar didn't return home. He moved to Mumbai and tried to disappear, but it was difficult for a man who was so fiercely patriotic. He began hearing rumours about other ex-soldiers being exposed to experiments to regrow limbs, and at first he dismissed them as fancy. As the rumours kept circulating amongst the shadowy, defeated world of the injured soldiers, Ishwar found he could no longer ignore the possibility. He searched for more answers and found that the trail led back to the Sudan.A man known as Osman met Ishwar at the airport and collected the money for the 'service'. Ishwar never met the surgeons, nor did he see where Osman took him, but when he awoke several days later he found that his legs were still gone. But in their place he now had an articulated and prehensile tail.Ishwar was shocked. He was outraged. But he was also imprisoned. Osman was a broker for an arms dealer, and the latest arms seemed to be cyborg soldiers. Osman was congenial about the situation and spent days trying to get Ishwar to see the positive side of his new condition. Ishwar felt the power of the tail and relished the mobility it allowed him, but he was still outraged at the invasive surgery. He wanted his legs and his life back, not to be some monster.Osman's buyers weren't very patient. They had wars to win and soldiers to deploy. Ishwar found himself crated off to the front line of some war and dumped. The buyer must have assumed the untamed fury still in Ishwar's heart would help to defeat the enemy. In a way, it did. Ishwar was berserk. He attacked any human he could see for three days, but after the third night he realised that he couldn't change what he was, and in a way the recent battles had reignited a passion in him.But his patriotism had gone. In its place was a cold mercenary mentality. After serving his time in the dusty, remote African war, Ishwar, who now called himself Naga, started a life as a mercenary. He worked with Osman as a broker, but after a while they drifted apart. Naga moved back to India when Pakistan was invaded and found himself fighting against his former country. A group of Pakistani businessmen had pooled resources to hire Naga, and he faced off against the Assembly in the streets of Karachi.Half-way through the battle, Tataiya halted her team and offered Naga ten times what the Pakistanis were offering. Without a moment's hesitation, Naga agreed, and has been on the pay roll of India ever since. |
| Personality |
Naga is cold. He has lost any hope of living a normal life, so he now embraces the cold mentality of a hired killer. He hates what he has become, especially given his noble heritage and tradition as a Ghurkha, but he makes what he can of his new situation. He is currently working with the Assembly, but also accepts assignments which take him out of the country. |
| Quote |
“You could not afford me, but I am willing to listen to your counter-offer.” |
| Powers |
Naga has had a cyborg tail grafted to the base of his spine. The tail is fully articulated and possesses incredible strength, particularly as a constricting force once something is within its rasp. The procedures also included subdermal plates which provide him with high resistance to injury, and two retractable blades which are housed in his wrists and lower arms. |
| Appearance |
Naga appears as a strongly-built man with the long, thick and articulated tail of a snake. He uses the tail to move and is able to stand erect at over two and half metres tall. He wears a black armoured suit, which fades into his black cyborg tail, as well as a silver-grey chest plate and shoulder pads. Naga also wears a helmet with visor. |
