Nefise was working as a translator at the European Union when she met Francois Quelennec, the French hero known as Renard. After working together on the Dawnstars project Francois and Nefise became involved and married soon after the establishment of the team. Nefise went from a relative unknown to being the wife of one of Europe's superheroes. It was quite a shock to her and she reluctantly engaged with the media while still feeling like an ordinary Turkish peasant girl at heart.

When the Dawnstars were disbanded Nefise and Francois returned to France. They had two children, Behiye and Jean-Baptiste. Francois began work with the French government, and Nefise felt as if her life was back on track, securely out of the media spotlight.

In 2003 Francois and Nefise were driving their family back from a friend's birthday party when they were ambushed by the metahuman assassins, Motte and Bailey. The family car plummeted off the side of an embankment and into a bridge. What happened next is still unclear, but Nefise remembers seeing her husband stumble out of the wreck to protect her from the approaching assassins.

When Nefise woke in the hospital she was informed that her husband and children were dead, and that she would never walk again. Devastated, she turned away from life.

Weeks later Nefise was visited by the Ziani Corporation, and offered a chance to rebuild her life and pursue her husband’s dream of a unified Europe as a member of the Dawnstars’ support staff.

She surprised even herself when she accepted.

Years have passed and Nefise has managed to prove the doctors wrong by walking again, as well as taking on the administrative duties of the Dawnstars team.

Nefise is intelligent and perceptive, and still retains some of her previous resolves of strength, although she has had her life shattered by the murders of her husband and children. Since taking on the responsibility of managing the Dawnstars' affairs, she has made efforts to move on from the tragedy of the past, including a close relationship with Suleyman, a kindred spirit and perhaps more.

Nefise is a gifted translator but otherwise a regular human with no ubergene abilities.

Nefise is a thin woman. Her face is dominated by dark eyes and pronounced cheekbones. Her hair is dark and kept under a scarf. She has an elegance about her, both in what she wears as well as how she carries herself. Her legs have horrible scarring and she keeps them covered at all times, usually with long flowing skirts or trousers. She also wears large glasses which give her an 'owlish' look.
