| Background |
Doctor Emilia Howard, quietly stepped down the stairs into the lost tomb. Hieroglyphs lined the walls, but she barely gave them a single glance. Her studies had shown that the legendary Well of Souls was in this tomb, and Emilia was determined to find it. No one else knew about the Well of Souls. Her fame would be assured. Her flashlight finally showed the bottom of the staircase. Heedlessly, Emilia rushed forward. Light shined on the Well of Souls, which was a pool of a coagulate so black it didn’t even reflect the light. Emilia couldn’t help herself and did a little dance stirring up the dust. She couldn’t be anymore happy than she was that day. Emilia set up her camp in the chamber, and then proceeded to translate the hieroglyphs. At first Emilia was excited, but the more she read the more disturbing became the message. Something about the return of Set, and his subjugation of all of Africa. Emilia started having second thoughts about the Well of Souls. Perhaps the Well of Souls was something people weren’t supposed to know about. That was when her foot slipped on a loose rock. With a scream, that no one heard, Emilia fell head first into the Well of Souls, which was now roiling as if in anticipation. Emilia went under immediately. For a few minutes the Well of Souls churned in silence then a huge bubble formed in the center of the pool. The bubble raised up and out of the pool as it expanded. Then it burst showering the chamber in a viscous mess. Floating over the Well of Souls was Emilia Howard; only it wasn’t Emilia any longer. While the person who hovered over the Well of Souls looked a little like Emilia, it wasn’t her. It was Nephthys, the Mistress of the House, the Mighty One of Words of Power. Nephthys surveyed the chamber as she gently landed on the floor. Yes she thought as her clothes started to change to something more comfortable, something more familiar to the goddess, this would do nicely. Now onto her next step. The return of her Lord Husband, the Lord of the Desert, Set. |
| Personality |
Emilia Howard is now totally possessed by Nephthys. Only rarely does Emilia’s personality gain control of the body. She’s totally unaware of the goddess when she is in control, though, and believes she is still an Egyptologist. The goddess is determined to liberate Set. However, Nephthys is aware that this goal is going to take time, and she is patient. Nephthys likes to keep her secrets to herself, only giving her henchmen the information that they need to know. She manipulates almost anyone she meets, and her manipulations are predominantly to achieve the awakening of Set. Nothing else matters. |
| Quote |
“When the Kingdom of Egypt is reunited, then my Lord Husband shall rule eternally.” |
| Powers |
Nephthys is an incredibly powerful mystic. Most of her powers deal with summoning monstrous servants (jackals, locust plagues, and even sand sphinxes), or by manipulating sand. A few of her spells are involved with solar energy. To aid her, Nephthys has three mystical artefacts that she found in the chamber of the Well of Souls. The first is the Greater Ankh of Power which feeds power to Nephthys allowing her to cast her magic without straining herself. The second is the Headdress of Protection with provides Nephthys with an invisible force field. Lastly is the Well of Souls itself. Using the Well of Souls, Nephthys can see and hear almost anything that is happening around the world. Being an Egyptian goddess, Nephthys is immortal, and will heal from almost any wound. She can also assume almost any form and innately understands any language she hears. |
| Appearance |
Nephthys is a goddess, and certainly looks like one. Her beauty is easy to see and is almost unearthly. Nephthys wears a white dress, with a red belt, and white slippers. On her head she wears the Headdress of Protection which is shaped like a doorway with a bowl on top of it. This is the hieroglyph for her name. Nephthys also carries the Greater Ankh of Power, which is a large golden ankh. |
