Hisaya always knew that he would have uberpowers. His grandfather, Suzuki Hisao, did. He was a hero of the Empire, the valiant Kamikaze - only one of two superhumans that the Empire had during the War. He became vital to the defense of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere once the Americans entered the war. But, after the war, he was forgotten for the most part. Most of the Japanese and gaijin after the War regarded Kamikaze as a villain who fought for an oppressive military autocracy. A handful regarded him as a hero.To make matters worse, Suzuki Hisashi, son of Hisao and father of Hisaya, denounced Kamikaze when he donned the mask himself as the superhero, Karai. Karai did much to help Japanese people, but he did just as much to help foreigners and went on missions around the globe. The world believed him a hero, but the growing neoconservative movement deigned him a turncoat when he sacrificed his life to stop an attack on the American base at Yokohama, the first attack carried out by the New Empire. And so, like his father, like his grandfather, Suzuki Hisaya would gain powers to control the wind. And when Kikuta Makoto visited him one day, he realized that he could be a REAL hero of Japan by joining the New Empire. |
