| Background |
Robert “Bobby” Quick lived for speed. As a teenager he was arrested several times for drag racing. It didn’t matter to him al all, his quest was to drive faster than anyone else. Once out of school, he discovered stock cars. His dream was coming true. Bobby was discovered by one of the owners of a racing team and soon was making a name for himself on the circuit. Bobby Quick was going places. His name was going to be a name that everybody knew. Bobby knew it. However, that was before the accident. The stock car, his stock car roared in anticipation. Bobby gripped the while as he attempted to wait for the green light. In the blink of an eye the race had begun. Like a horde or monsters the stock cars practically flew down the track. The noises of the charging made his ears ring with the joy of the race. Bobby lost himself in the rapture of the speed.Lap after lap, pit stop are pit stop, for Bobby it was quite clear. He was leading the race. He was winning the race. Bobby didn’t even hear the front driver side wheel explode into a million pieces of tire treed. His first thought as his stock car left the tract was that this was the fastest he had ever gone.Bobby was in a coma, and didn’t look like he was every going to come out of it. His boss had power of attorney over Bobby and when going to pull the life support when a group of men in dark suits along with a strange French man paid him a visit. The men were from the government and they were in the process putting together a team of super-heroes for the defense of the United States, and had enlisted the aid of Armstrong to change Bobby into a cyborg. After much soul searching, his boss agreed to the opperation. Thus Speedway was born. Bobby took to his new body as if it were a new stock car. Now he can go faster than anybody. |
| Personality |
Bobby has always been a light hearted person, his only true passion was for cars and racing. Now that he’s a cyborg and go even faster so much the better. Not much can get Bobby down, and when he’s down it isn’t long before he’s making a rebound. This reason alone might account for the success of the precess of turning him into a cyborg. Bobby has also been something of a showoff since he was a little kid. Being Speedway, he can showoff even more, and get the attention he has always craved. |
| Quote |
“It is very important to get a good start.” |
| Powers |
Speedway is a cyborg. Very little of the actual organic material remains, and that is covered in titanium armoring. Speedway was built to resist impacts both intentional and unintentional. His musculature has been replaced with cybernetics, granting Speedway with super-human strength, dexterity, and speed. His legs are piston driven, and allows Speedway to run and incredible speeds. Speedway has developed a number of different attacks using his speed, and his resiliency. His flurry attack is a series of punches that are difficult to follow. Doing his Breathrough attack is to run right over his foe leaving footprints down their back. Lapping means that Speedway has picked up a line (ie rope, chain, or cable), and ran super fast around his foes trapping them. Clearing the lane is when Speedway runs into a number of foes in a row. |
| Appearance |
Speedway is a cyborg. His mechanical parts are visible at his joints; elbow and knees. He still wears his red racing uniform minus all his corporate sponsors. Instead his uniform just sports his name, and an American flag. Speedway finishes his costume with black boots and gloves. His brain is contained in what looks like a racing helmet, and has no visible facial features. It’s a toss up who is more popular, Speedway or Major American. |
