| History of the Trodneans | |
| A millenium ago, the Trodyn were a fractured race generally at tense peace occasionally interrupted by border wars. Pack Territorial boundaries had always been issues of contention throughout history. As technology progressed and the availability of longer distance travel increased, Packs merged into hegemonies and nations until most of the world was divided into four main power Allegiances. The Invisible War was at the same time the least bloody war in history and the most tense. Nuclear war seemed to be inevitable given the strong tension and shifting alliances between the Allegiances. While none of the Allegiances wanted war let alone nuclear devastation, they all vied for mineral resources. It was fortuitous that the Union of Civilized Worlds chose, at this time to send four advisors, one to each Allegiance. Democratization, already fairly developed in each of the four Allegiances, was increased on all levels: political, social, and economic. Incentives were put into place that fostered equitable exchanges of ideas and trade. After several years, Trodyn became an Associate World of the UCW.Over time, the Allegiances dissolved by mutual agreement due in large part to the globalization and democratization. Instead of four Allegiances, there were numerous small states of roughly equal populations delineated by natural physical boundaries, all joined together under the Trodyn Forum. With the globalization of trade and politics, technology progressed to the point that all the needs of the now stabilized population were met. Trodyn was offered full Membership into the Union. The Trodyn are a canine species whose ancestors resembled bipedal wolves. While modern Trodneans tend to rely a lot on sight and hearing for communication, they still appreciate a wide array of scents. Indeed scents have always played a large role in their culture. Scent booths and rooms are every bit as popular as holovid. Like other mammalian-type species, Trodnean males and females mate; females bear live young, usually in fraternal pairs. | |
| Area of Operations and Homeworld | |
| Trodyn is located in Quadrant Gamma of the Union of Civilized Worlds approximately forty parsecs from Caucus Star Center. It is a class B planet, nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere with a slightly higher than normal sulfur content, with a single large landmass divided into two continents by an isthmus. Approximately forty percent of the surface is land, with the two continents accounting for eighty-seven percent of the land. Two small airless moons orbit the world and provide the energy for the highly varying tides. Because of the star's intensity and distance to Trodyn, the temperature of the world is slightly higher than average, making the coasts, river areas, and mountains heavily forested and the flat inland areas largely desert. Other than Trodyn itself, the system is largely unpopulated, although robotic interplanetary craft carry out a small amount of mining, energy gathering, and fuel skimming. There are two space stations, one orbiting Trodyn and the other orbiting the large gas giant, the fifth planet within the system. | |
| Goals | |
| The Trodyn desire to live peacefully with themselves and other races. They support the goals of the UCW. | |
| Reputation | |
| The Trodyn have been part of the UCW for approximately two centuries, having been a quarantined world until then. As a 'newly socialized' world, they are expected to have a wider bell curve of behaviors as compared to the 'founder worlds'. In general, Trodneans are regarded as hyperactive, and do have a larger degree of adventurers. Trodnean tourists have been known to take 'Scent Journeys' of two to six years throughout UCW space. Furthermore, there is a fair amount of Trodneans in the UCW Defense Force and in the Galactic Guard. | |
