| Background |
Andrei and his twin brother Fyodor were opposites as opposites could be. Andrei was outgoing joining the Young Pioneers at an early age, while Fyodor was more philosophical and spiritual. Fyodor entered seminary school, while Andrei entered a military academy. However, for all their differences the two were real close; each writing constantly to the other over the years. Andrei was commissioned in the army, while Fyodor was ordained in the Russian Orthodox Church. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, not much changed for the brothers. Andrei stayed with the new Russian Federation army, while Fyodor tened the faithful in St. Petersburg. In 1996, Andrei was his first real combat action, when the army was sent in to quell the break away Province of Chechnya. Even though the war didn't go exactly as Russia had planned, Andrei thrived in the enviroment of war, receiving several citations for bravery, and even a field promotion. With the failures in Chechnya, Andrei returned to Moscow for training with the spetzna or special forces. When Russia again struck against Chechnya, Andrei was in the middle of it, but this time as a captain. Unlike the last campaign, this invasion was counted a success. During the campaign, Andrei was responsible for a lot of destruction and death. In this he was in his true element. However, in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, Andrei got shot in the shoulder from a boy of fourteen. Just before he lost consciosness Andrei unloaded his pistol into his attacker.Andrei was evacuated back to Moscow to reover from his wounds. For Andrei it was an opportunity to spend some time with Fyodor, as they hadn't seen each other in years. It was Andrei who suggested that they go to the Moscow opera, becay Andrei knew that Kyodor was an aficinado of opera. Andrie was to meet Fyodor at the opera, but he got delayed. Due to the delay, Andrei wasn't in the opera house when it was taken over by Chechen rebels. Frantic to save his brother, Andrei attempted a rescue, but unknown to Andrei the Russian military had unleashed a gas into the opera house that was supposed to incapacitate the terrorists with disastrous results. Over a hundred people died from the gas attack; including Fyodor. Andrei also almost succumbed to the ags, but was pulled back.Three days later, under skies that threatened snow, Andrei laid his brother to rest. Andrei was inconsolable. That night, Andrei got roaring drunk on vodka. In the morning he found himself lying across Fyodor's grave under a light cover of snow. And someone was talking to him."Get up my son. War doesn't die that easily does it?"Startled Andrei stood up, pain from the hangover making his head throb. However, to his amazement there was no one else in the cemetery but him."Peace, Please peace.""Yes," said a voice that sounded just like Fyodor, "in peace brothers don't bury brothers, but in war brothers do.""You are right Fyodor," said Andrei. To Andrei it was all starting to make sense.Andrei staggered from the cemetery having a running conversation with his dead brtoerh. If passers-by thought it strange to see a man talking to himself, Andrei paid them no mind. A few days later, Andrei himself disappeared without a trace. It was several months later that the masked assassin calling himself War and Peace was offering his services to the highest bidder. After several successful assassinations, War and Peace was contacted by Dirty Deeds and offered a place with them. After a debate with Fyodor, Andrei agreed to join the band of assassins. And if they notice that he talks to himself a lot it never seems to bother Andrei in the least. |
| Personality |
The death of his twin brother has had profound effects on Andrei. The results of the dath has fractured his psyche into two distinct personalities. One is War, which indentifies itself with Andrei. War is aggressive and bad tempered. The other personality is Peace, which identifies itself with Fyodor. The Peace personality actually believes that it is really Fyodor Bolkonsky. Peace is always calm never getting overly excited. Since Fyodor was an Russian Orthodox priest, Peace is also a humble person and would become embarrassed if overly praised. Each personality is aware of the other, and due to the psychosis of their creation thinks nothing unusual about it. However, at times the two personalities can dominate one another. When Andrei personality is dominate, he become aggressive and quick tempered. When the Fyodor personality is in charge, he become passive and self-effacing. Together the two personalities form a complex killer. |
| Quote |
"We make war that we may live in peace." |
| Powers |
The fracturing of Andrei's psyche has unleashed potent mental powers. However, the mental pwers are divided between the two personalities. Wars' mental powers allow him to find a target without actually seeking it, and once discovered to obliterate it. The War personality also provides half mental defense, while Peace provides the other. Peaces' mental powers allows him to go unnoticed by those arround him, and even those with mental powers cannot find him. When hiding becomes unfeasible, Peace can erect a field around himself causing other to restrain themselves with attacking him. Even without his mental powers, War and Peace is armed with a high powered sniper rifle. Disarmed, he's still dangerous because of his spetzna training. For protection War and Peace wears a suit of body armor. His mask is polarized and has a built-in air supply. |
| Appearance |
War and Peace wears a suit of body armor that is form fitted. Over this he usually wears camouflage fatigues. Slung over his back is his sniper rifle. To hide his identity Andrei wears a mask that completely covers his head. The face of the mask looks like a Greek tragedy mask. War and Peace also has a habit of talking to himself. This makes people think that he's rather creepy. When not on an assignment, Andrei wears casual clothing so as not to garner notice. At the times when Peace is dominate for a while, he often starts to grow a beard. |
